Srinagar, June 10 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the gory incident in Chotta Bazaar, Srinagar, when Indian troops slaughtered 32 civilians in the locality is one of the bloodiest massacres in the territory.

According to a report released by Kashmir Media Service, on June 11, 1991, the Indian paramilitary CRPF troops after an alleged clash with unknown attackers at Zainakadal in the city went berserk, and opened indiscriminate firing with their automatic weapons all the way from their camp at Syed Mansoor to the densely populated downtown area of Srinagar, Chotta Bazaar.

The report further said that with blood in their eyes, the troops barged into the shops, gathered people outside on the streets and killed them randomly. Four people were shot in a motor mechanics’ workshop and four others were shot outside a medical college. Some rickshaw drivers and bystanders were also shot by the troops. The indiscriminate firing by the forces’ personnel took a massive toll of 32 lives of innocent civilians. Around 22 persons were also critically injured in the incident. The bullets hit shopkeepers, passerby, a 75-year old woman and a child of ten years age.

According to the reports published in The Kashmir Times next day, the entire area from where the dead bodies were picked and brought to the police control room by 8 pm bore blood stains, the KMS report added.

It pointed out that this blood curdling incident still causes a deep stir inside the hearts of the scores of bereaved families whose kiths and kins were massacred. Even Amnesty International then expressed its serious concern on the horrific incident and demanded a judicial inquiry into the matter, the report said. It maintained that, 30 years on but memories of Chotta Bazaar massacre are still fresh in the Kashmiris’ minds and the victims are still awaiting justice.

The report said that history of IIOJK is littered with many Chotta Bazaar like carnages as Indian troops have carried out dozens of massacres in IIOJK since 1990. The aim of committing Chotta Bazaar like carnages is to instill fear among the Kashmiris, it added.

It said, massacres in IIOJK are ugly blots on the face of so-called Indian democracy and the international community must take notice of Kashmiris’ genocide by India.

The report maintained that bold and resilient Kashmiris were determined to carry on freedom struggle against all odds, adding that unparalleled sacrifices of the Kashmiri people will never go waste. KMS—6A

#SikhsWillNeverForget1984

Islamabad, June 01 (KMS): The storming of the Golden Temple, the Sikhs’ holiest shrine in Amritsar, India, in June 1984 is an ugly scar on the so-called Indian democracy while the victims of Blue Star Operation and those killed in the ensuing bloody chain of anti-Sikh riots are still awaiting justice.

A report released by Kashmir Media Service, said that Indian army massacred thousands of Sikhs including pilgrims during its attack on the Golden Temple between June 1 and 10, 1984. Indian army backed by tanks and artillery guns reduced the Sikhs’ holiest shrine to rubble besides killing thousands.

The report mentioned that HR violations were being perpetrated against the Sikhs even before the Operation Blue Star, while the Indian army’s 1984 assault on the Sikh holiest shrine in Amritsar was a sacrilegious act as well. The operation marked the official beginning of a policy of HR violations against Sikhs and a systematic purge of the community on a large-scale in India.

Sikh activists and leaders have marked the ‘Operation Blue Star’ as the “Ghallughara” (genocide) of the Sikhs and are not ready to forget the killing of their great leader Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale, a bold man who awakened Sikhs against Indian imperialism. Indian authorities had imposed draconian media restrictions to hide the gruesome crimes committed against Sikhs during the ‘Operation Blue Star’.

AP news agency quoting post-mortem medical reports had said that several people inside the Golden Temple were killed by the Army in cold blood.

The New York Times had written an editorial ‘Truth on Trial – in India’ while referring to the Indian govt’s censorship during ‘Operation Blue Star’ in 1984.

Following the Sikhs ruthless killing after ‘Operation Blue Star’, over 20,000 Sikh families fearing for their life had to migrate out of India. Many Sikhs resigned from services and returned awards they had received from the Indian govt in protest against the attack on Golden Temple. Indian govt came out with a concocted and fabricated ‘White Paper’ on Operation Blue Star, but no one believed it.

The operation was a deliberate move not only to kill Sikhs but also to desecrate their holiest religious place, which has left deep scars on the psyche of Sikh and they would rest until they achieve a separate homeland, Khalistan.

The report maintained that the Sikhs’ fight against India is actually a war against Hindutva hegemony and will not let Modi’s hegemonic designs to succeed.

Islamabad, May 28 (KMS): The coronavirus is roaring in rural India while urban city centers are already writhing in pain.

A report released by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service, today, said, Narendra Modi’s mismanagement of Covid crisis is earning him criticism all over the world as people have been flaying Modi and his government machinery for showing complacency while dealing with Covid crisis. Modi’s rating has fallen to new low as India reels from pandemic, it maintained.

The Human Rights Watch (HRW) in its report had deplored that abandoned corpses in rural India indicate surge in Covid deaths, the report said.

It maintained that reports are emerging that Covid is spreading like wildfire in rural India but the Modi-led fascist Indian government is facing utter failure in handling the pandemic situation. Ominous scenes of bodies burning in overwhelmed crematoriums have become an everyday occurrence in Modi’s India, it added.

The report said, the US data intelligence company, Morning Consult’s tracker says that India’s Covid-19 caseload is eroding Modi’s support base.

Pertinently, Indian political parties and international media are blaming Narendra Modi for the surge in the infections and deaths in the country as he held mammoth election rallies and allowed Hindu festival Kumbh Mela at Haridwar in the Indian state of Uttarakhand.

The report said, Indian authorities should focus on solutions, not misguided, abusive policies to address the pandemic situation.

Islamabad, May 18 (KMS): A local administration in the BJP ruled India’s Uttar Pradesh state has defied a high court order and bulldozed a mosque, in one of the most inflammatory actions taken against a Muslim place of worship since the demolition of the Babri Mosque by a mob of Hindu fanatics in 1992, British newspaper The Guardian reported.

The mosque, in the city of Ram Sanehi Ghat in Uttar Pradesh, had stood for at least six decades, since the time of British rule, according to documents held by its committee, the newspaper said.

The UP chief minister is a hardcore Hindu called Yogi Adityanath, who is known for his vitriol against Muslims. He has made speeches laced with Islamophobia, referred to Muslims as terrorists, and passed legislation openly discriminatory to Muslims.

The Guardian said that on Monday, police and security services moved into the area and cleared it of people, then brought in bulldozers and demolished the mosque. Debris was then thrown into a river. Security services have been deployed to prevent anyone coming within a mile of where the mosque stood.

A local imam, Maulana Abdul Mustafa, who is on the mosque committee, said the mosque was hundreds of years old and that thousands of people have been coming here five times a day to offer prayer. He added, “All Muslims were scared, so no one went near the mosque or dared to protest when the mosque was being demolished. Even today, several dozen people are leaving their homes and hiding in other areas out of the fear of the police.”

The demolition was in violation of a high court order issued on 24 April, which stated that the mosque should be protected from any eviction or demolition until 31 May, the British newspaper reported.

It further said that the mosque’s presence has been contested by the local administration, which on 15 March issued a “show cause” notice to the mosque committee asking it to explain how the building’s location was chosen and citing an intention to demolish it. The mosque committee sent a detailed response, including documents demonstrating the building had an electricity connection from 1959, but the local administration did not take the response on to official record.

On 18 March, the mosque committee went to the Uttar Pradesh high court citing concerns that the mosque faced imminent demolition, and an order was given for the local administration to file a reply about the grounds on which it had established that the mosque had been illegally built and was obstructing traffic, even though the structure did not sit on a road.

However, in the following days, the local administration began building a permanent structure to block access to the mosque. On 19 March, local Muslims were prevented from entering the mosque for Friday prayers, causing tension and protests in the area. Over 35 local Muslims who were protesting were arrested and put in jail, where many are still held, and police reports were filed against the demonstrators.

The mosque committee became concerned at the actions of the local administration, and in April filed a public interest litigation in the high court. In a further ruling on 24 April, the high court ordered that “any orders of eviction, dispossession or demolition …shall remain in abeyance until 31.05.21”.

However, the administration went ahead with the demolition of the mosque on Monday. Local Muslims in the area, including members of the mosque committee, said they had gone into hiding over fears they would be targeted and arrested.

Islamabad, May 16 (KMS): Blinded by anger against Kashmiris for their uncompromising commitment to the freedom cause, RSS-backed Modi government has stooped too low to arrest two sons and other family members of senior APHC leader and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir Chairman Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai who was systematically killed in custody on May 5, 2021.

A report released by Kashmir Media Service, today, said that Sehrai’s two sons namely, Mujahid Ashraf Sehrai and Rashid Ashraf Sehrai, were arrested by police from Bulbulbagh in Srinagar on Saturday evening.

Political experts and analysts termed the arrest of Mujahid, Rashid and their 20 other relatives as political victimization for their unwavering support to the freedom movement. The duo has been taken to Kupwara.

The experts and analysts said that Modi regime has turned so callous that it even did not allow the family of Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai to mourn his custodial death and arrested his two sons and relatives when their wounds were still fresh. The arrests, they said, are meant to victimize and punish the family for espousing the freedom cause.

Having discussed the arrest of Sehrai’s sons, the report deplored that all Kashmiris’ basic rights including right to life and right to protest and right to freedom of expression are violated under RSS-backed Modi government. The regime is employing draconian laws and using brute force against the Kashmiris to stifle political dissent in IIOJK. People are even booked under black laws for showing solidarity with the oppressed Palestinians.

Maulana Sarjan Barkati, who earned fame for his unique style of anti-India sloganeering, was on Saturday arrested for talking about suffering of Palestinians. Police arrested 28 youth during house raids in Badshahi Bagh and other areas of Srinagar for holding anti-Israel protests. What is more shocking is, a Kashmiri artist Mudasir Gul was booked under black law Public Safety Act for drawing graffiti on Palestinians.

Draconian measures being employed by Modi led Indian regime has further exposed RSS-backed government’s disregard for democratic norms in IIOJK.

The report asked how India can claim to be a democratic republic when it is denying Kashmiris their basic rights including the right to self-determination, which is sheer violation of international laws and UN charter.

The report called upon the global community to bring Modi and his henchmen to book for trampling every right of the Kashmiris.

HRW says crisis exposing India’s underlying human rights issues

Rare, Deadly 'Black Fungus' Stalking Covid-19 Patients in Delhi: What You Need to KnowNew Delhi, May11 (KMS): In India, where the devastating second wave of code 19 is raging, cases of this rare Mycorrhiza, also known as ‘black fungus’, are rapidly emerging among doctors or patients recovering from it.
Mumbai-based eye surgeon Dr Akshay Nair was preparing to operate on a 25-year-old woman on Saturday morning. The woman had recovered from code 19 just three weeks ago.

A nose, ear and throat specialist was treating another female patient in the hospital’s operating theater. These patients were also diabetics. The doctor inserted a tube into her nose and removed Mycorrhiza -infected tissues from her body.
Mycobacterium tuberculosis is a rare but dangerous fungal infection. The infection affects the nose, eyes or sometimes the brain.

As the doctor removes his patient’s mitochondrial tissue, Dr. Nair will operate on his patient for three hours, in which he will remove one of her eyes.

“I will take out one eye to save her life,” says Dr Nair. This is how the disease works.
Mycobacterium tuberculosis is a very rare type of infection that is spread by fungi found in soil, plants, fertilizers, and rotten fruits and vegetables. “It is found everywhere, in the soil, in the air and even in the noses of healthy people,” says Dr Nair.

It affects the nasal passages, brain and lungs and can be fatal for diabetics or people with very weak immune systems such as AIDS or cancer.

Meanwhile, Human Rights Watch South Asia Director Meenakshi Ganguly in a media interview said that Covid-19 in India is making record-breaking numbers of new cases with medicine, oxygen, and vaccines in tragically short supply. The interview discussed how the humanitarian crisis is exposing India’s underlying human rights issues, and what needs to be done.

Speaking about Covid-19 situation in India, he said, “It is devastating. …people in India are dying from Covid-19 because they’re not getting the hospital care, medicine, or oxygen support they need to fight the disease. The shortfalls continue even after death: people wait hours in line to cremate or bury their loved ones. Even though India had a year to pull itself together and learn lessons from experiences around the world, the government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi appears to have failed to do so.”

FATF should put India in black list over advertised sale of uranium by scrap dealers

 #IndianNuclearProgramThreatToWorldPeace

Islamabad, May 11 (KMS): Islamabad, May 11 (KMS): The arrest of two persons with 7kgs of natural uranium by Maharashtra police has authenticated that Modi-led Indian regime is a threat to global security, particularly in the backdrop of the revelation that the duo had advertised the offered price of about Rs. 21 crores of highly radioactive uranium for online sale.

A report released by Kashmir Media Service, today, said that nuclear and defense experts are of the opinion that the seizure of 7 kg of uranium of extremely pure grade from two persons in Mumbai, India, is, enough to make a bomb.

The incident has raised questions about the safety of radioactive material in India. The experts pointed out that the lame-duck response has also exposed the double standards of the global community towards the safety of the fissile material in India and will equally be responsible if an untoward happens in future.

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) owes an explanation over arrest of the persons with uranium in Mumai as the experts feared that Hindu terrorists can use this material for making nuclear bombs. They demanded that India’s nuclear programme should immediately be sealed unless country’s flawed mechanism about protection of uranium is thoroughly reviewed.

“This is the only way to protect the world from the growing threats stemming from uranium theft incident in India,” said a fissile material expert adding that since 1994, 11 cases pertaining to the seizure of high quality uranium has been reported in India.

The experts urged the UN Security Council to ask for an investigation into incidents of uranium theft in India as in the past even Indian politicians have been found involved in the smuggling of highly radioactive uranium.

About the offered price of about Rs. 21 crores of highly radioactive uranium by the two detained men, an article published in the News web portal Global Village Space wrote: “The ‘gentlemen’ had uncannily advertised the proposed sale online. As such, the authorities initially dismissed the advertisement as just another hoax. They routinely detained the “sellers-to-be” and forwarded a sample of their ware to the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre. They were shocked when the center reported that the material was natural uranium.”

The article written by Amjed Jaaved goes on to add, “It is surmised that the sale of uranium by scrap dealers in India is common. But, such events rarely come in limelight.”

According to Anil Kakodar, former chairman of the India’s Atomic Energy Commission,

“Factories using uranium as a counterweight in their machines are mandated to contact the Atomic Energy agencies and return uranium to them. They however resort to short cuts and sell the entire machine with uranium in scrap,” the web portal said.
The portal ruled to “believe that radioactive material could be stolen from nuclear labs without operators’ connivance.”

“In different incidents, uranium in varying forms and quantities continues to be recovered from scrap dealers and others by Indian authorities. The recoveries include fifty-seven pounds of uranium in rod form, eight kilograms in granular form, two hundred grams in semi-processed form, besides twenty-five kilograms in radioactive form, stolen from the Bibi Cancer Hospital,” it added.

“Also, the thieves stole three cobalt switches, worth Rs. 1.5 million, from Tata Steel Company laboratory at Jamshedpur (Jharkhand). A shipment of beryllium (worth $24 million), was caught in Vilnius, on its way to North Korea.”

The same news portal praised Pakistan in these words: “Pakistan’s nuclear regulatory authority had taken necessary steps for the safety, security, and accountability of Pakistan’s nuclear weapons, facilities, and materials even before the 9/11 incident.”

They maintained that Financial Action Task Force (FATF) that continues to keep Pakistan in its grey list in the name of far less serious charge like money laundering needs to put India in the black list to effectively monitor money trails of uranium transactions in India.

Kashmiri journalists working in most difficult circumstances

Srinagar, May 03 (KMS): Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir is one of the most dangerous places of the world where people associated with the press and media are performing their professional duties in the most difficult circumstances.

According to a report compiled by Raies Ahmed Mir, editor KMS, on the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day, today, nineteen journalists have been confirmed as being killed while performing their duties during the Kashmiris’ ongoing liberation struggle since 1989. They include Shabbir Ahmed Dar, Mushtaq Ali, Muhammad Shaban Wakeel, a woman scribe Aasiya Jeelani, Ghulam Muhammad Lone, Ghulam Rasool Azad, Pervez Muhammad Sultan, Shujaat Bukhari, Ali Muhammad Mahajan, Syed Ghulam Nabi, Altaf Ahmed Fakhtoo, Saidan Shafi, Tariq Ahmed, Abdul Majid Butt, Javed Ahmed Mir, PN Handoo, Muhammad Shafi, Pradeeep Bhatia and Ashok Sodhi.

A renowned journalist, Sahil Maqbool passed away in March 2018. He was kept in illegal detention by the authorities for several years for highlighting the Indian atrocities in the territory. He was subjected to severe torture during incarceration.

The report said that in the occupied territory, almost routinely, the journalists face manhandling, abductions, murder attempts and death threats by the Indian troops and all this has made their everyday work extremely difficult. It revealed that the Kashmiri journalists and many other scribes while performing their professional duties were roughed up, injured and detained by the troops on fake charges in the territory.

Indian police and sleuths of National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested a photojournalist, Kamran Yousuf, on 4th March in 2017 and two journalists, Aasif Sultan and Aqib Javeed Hakim on August 2018 for highlighting the brutalities of the Indian troops during pro-freedom demonstrations in Pulwama. Kamran was later shifted to New Delhi. He was released on bail on 14th March 2018 from Delhi’s Tihar Jail.

Another journalist Qazi Shibli was booked under black law, Public Safety Act (PSA) on 8 August 2019 and was released on 23 April 2020.

The illegally detained 32-year-old Kashmiri journalist, Aasif Sultan, featured among this month’s list in 2019 of the 10 ‘Most Urgent’ threats to press freedom across the globe. The list is released monthly by the One Free Press Coalition, which was founded by a dozen news organizations including TIME, with the goal of defending journalists under attack.

The Indian police physically assaulted reporters and photojournalists including Shah Irshad, Fida Hussain, Aman Farooq, Manzoor Zahoor, Suhail Hameed, Younis Khaliq, Aqib Javed Hakim, Farooq Shah, Shah Jahangir, Fayaz Lolu, Deen Imran, Junaid Lalu, Aijaz Ahmad Dar, Sajjad Hameed, Abdul Hameed, Tauseef Mustafa, Danish Ismail, Aman Farooq, Umer Meraaj, Habib Naqash, Merajuddin, Younis Khaliq, Aasif Qureshi, Arshad Hussain Shah, Manzoor Mir, Qazi Irshad, Khan Yasrub, Bilal Bahadur, Mubashir Khan, Farooq Javaid Khan, Umar Sheikh and Shoaib Masoodi in 2017-18. These journalists were also not allowed by the authorities to perform their professional duties during cordon and search operations in the occupied territory.

A freelance French journalist, Comiti Paul Edward, was arrested by the Indian police when he was video-graphing the pellet victims in Srinagar city on International Human Rights Day (December 10) in 2017. Comiti Paul Edward later in an interview said that the Kashmiris were facing the worst kind of military repression and human rights violations at the hands of Indian troops and India did not want these happenings in Kashmir to be known internationally. In his documentary released in 2018, Paul Comiti exposed genocide of Kashmiris by Indian forces.

Annie Gowan, Bureau chief of The Washington Post for India, was restricted by the authorities in a house in Srinagar on 31st July 2018 and was not permitted to move in the territory for reporting.

A driver associated with English daily Greater Kashmir, Bilal Ahmed, and another employee, Farooq Ahmed Parray, were dragged out of the vehicle and beaten up by the troops at Safa Kadal in Srinagar on 13th April 2018 when they were on way back home.

The journalists including Waseem Andrabi, Nisar-ul-Haq, Junaid Gulzar and Mir Burhan received injuries in their faces and necks when the troops fired pellets during a cordon and search operation at Heff Shirmal in Shopian district on January 11, 2019.

In 2020 Indian police beat up and harassed Kashmiri journalist including Waseem Andrabi, Sanam Aijaz, Naseer Ahmad Ganie,Haroon Nabi, Kamran Yousuf,Qisar Mir,Qayoom Khan , Kamran Raashid Bhat, Wasim Khalid and Mushtaq Ganaie while three Kashmiri journalists including Gowhar Geelani, Peerzada Ashiq and Massarat Zahra were booked in 2019 under strict laws for their writings and social media the procession and update posts.

Indian police used brute force and thrashed Fayaz Ahmad Lolu, Mudasir Qadri, Junaid Rafiq, Suhail Khan, Ashiq Mir and Mudasir Ahmed when they were doing professional jobs in South and North Kashmir areas.

Three Kashmiri journalists including Gowhar Geelani, Peerzada Ashiq and Massarat Zahra were booked under strict laws for their writings and social media posts in the last month alone. “Kashmiri journalists are called to police stations and are questioned and harassed for hours,” the report said.

Although India has snatched every right including right to freedom of press in the occupied territory, Kashmiri journalists are determined to fight India’s assault on media freedom. Local journalist bodies have called upon the international community to come to the rescue of Kashmiri journalists. Victimization of journalists in Kashmir has increased manifold since Aug 5, 2019.

The Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Estates Department locked and sealed offices of Kashmir News Service and The Kashmir Times in Srinagar in October 2020.

In this year 2021 Indian authorities harassed and tried to use false and fabricated charges on a reporter Sajad Gul in Bandipore, while Indian police assaulted several photojournalists and reporters including Saqib Majeed, Safaft Farooq and Qisar Mir when they were doing their professional work during anti-India protests in Srinagar and Pulwama.

The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) has said that the government-control through advertisement revenue is prevalent in occupied Kashmir and the media is being pressurized to toe the official line or face financial insecurity. In a report titled “Kashmir’s Media in Peril: A Situation Report” released in Brussels, the IFJ said, “The information is controlled by government and security forces” and among other challenges are “out-of-bounds areas, telephone and internet shutdowns; no system in place to get official version of incidents from police or security agencies”.

On the other hand, mobile internet and social networking websites are blocked by the authorities during violent operations and after every killing of youth in the occupied territory.

It is worth mentioning here that during the mass uprising triggered by the extrajudicial killing of popular youth leader, Burhan Wani, by the Indian troops on 8th July 2016, the Kashmir Valley witnessed the most sweeping information blackout.

Indian authorities banned newspaper publication in the occupied territory and police raided media houses and also shut down printing presses of Srinagar-based newspapers. The authorities had banned the publication of English daily Kashmir Reader for over three months while after the imposition of President Rule in occupied Kashmir 2018, the occupation authorities stopped the advertisements to the valley-based newspapers.

Islamabad, May 03 (KMS): As World Press Freedom Day is being observed across the globe, today, under this year’s theme “Information as a Public Good”, media in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and India is facing immense pressure to toe the Hindutva line being advanced by the fascist Modi government.

A report released by Research Section of Kashmir Media Service on the day, today, says that there is little to celebrate about state of press freedom in Kashmir and India as Modi regime is busy tightening its grip on media.

The report said that journalists in IIOJK have always worked under immense pressure, facing intimidation, assaults and arrests on part of Indian forces. International watchdog World Press Freedom Index 2021 in its latest report called situation in Kashmir very worrying where India is even stopping advertisements to IIOJK-based dailies to force them into submission. WPFI said that reporters are often harassed by police and paramilitaries in the territory.

In a new advisory, police have clamped new curbs on journalists restricting them from live coverage of CASOs and anti-India protests in Jammu and Kashmir.

Kashmir Press Club has described the new police advisory as part of the string of measures taken by the authorities to suppress freedom of the press in IIOJK. It said, by issuing fresh advisory regarding reporting in IIOJK, India wants to hide serious HR violations being committed by its troops during CASOs in the occupied territory.

Since 5 August 2019, journalists have reported an intensified crackdown by occupation authorities in IIOJK. The 30-year-old Kashmiri journalist Aasif Sultan is facing illegal detention since 2018 and another journalist Qazi Shibli was arrested July last year and was booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) on 8 August 2019.

Indian police beat up and harassed Kashmiri journalists Waseem Andrabi, Sanam Aijaz, Naseer Ahmad Ganie,Haroon Nabi, Kamran Yousuf,Qisar Mir,Qayoom Khan , Kamran Raashid Butt, Wasim Khalid and Mushtaq Ganaie, the same year, while Gowhar Geelani, Peerzada Ashiq and Massarat Zahra were booked under strict laws for their writings and social media posts.

Kashmiri journalists are called to police stations and are questioned and harassed for hours. Local journalist bodies have called upon the international community to come to the rescue of Kashmiri journalists. Victimization of journalists in Kashmir has increased manifold since Aug 5,2019, while the media policy, announced by India in May 2020, is a continuation of measures taken to curtail the free flow of information in IIOJK.
