Srinagar, June 27 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, eleven persons including nine girl students died in a major road accident in Peer Ki Gali area on the historic Mughal Road in Shopian district, today.

A police official said a vehicle on way to Shopian from Poonch skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in Lal Ghulam area, resulting into death of eleven passengers. »

Srinagar, June 27 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, one person was killed and two others were injured in a blast in Kulgam district.

Some people were trying to set on fire some trash in which the explosive material was lying went off at Chuder Ban in Khudwani area of the district. In the blast, one person identified as Nazir Ahmed Butt died on the spot while two others suffered serious injuries. »

The troops cordoned off Dar Mohalla Bonigam and Hergam Nussuu areas of Qazigund and launched door-to-door searches. The operation continued till last reports came in. »

New Delhi, June 27 (KMS): Indian Minister of State for Defence, Shripad Naik has said that the Indian Air Force lost 27 aircraft, including 15 fighter jets and helicopters, in crashes since 2016.

Shripad Naik in a written reply in Lok Sabha, the lowe house of the Indian Parliament, said that the quantum of provisional loss in 11 cases of crashes was approximately Rs 524.64 crore. »

Srinagar, June 27 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Coalition of Civil Society (JKCCS) and Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP) have urged India to allow unconditional access to international human rights organizations to assess the human rights situation in the territory.

The JKCCS and APDP in a statement issued in Srinagar drew attention of the world community to its report on Torture, released on May 20, 2019. The report brings to focus the systematic use of torture by the Indian state on the people of Kashmir. »

Srinagar, June 26 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front has said that if India is serious and prepared to engage with the Kashmiris for a peaceful settlement of the Kashmir dispute then its reflection must be observed on ground.

In a statement issued in Srinagar, today, the JKLF while quoting its vice chairman Saleem Haroon said, on one hand, India was imposing bans on legal political organizations like the JKLF and the Jamaat-e-Islami, while on the other, it was trying to hoodwink the international community by staging an impression of dialogue. He said that India should create conducive atmosphere for any dialogue process by releasing pro-freedom leaders from jails, lifting illegal ban on political organizations, stop killings and shun the talk of conditional dialogue. He added that India must lift ban on peaceful protests and must allow freedom of expression and assembly in the territory. »

Srinagar, June 26 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism martyred one Kashmiri youth in Pulwama district, today.

The troops martyred the youth, Shabbir Ahmad Malik, during a violent cordon and search operation at Branpathri Kahlil in Tral area of the district. The operation continued when last reports came in.

Meanwhile, people took to the streets near bus stand and in Nagbal area of Tral town and staged demonstrations against the killing of the youth. Indian police and troops fired pellets and teargas shells to disperse the protesters, injuring several of them. »

Srinagar, June 26 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, has strongly condemned the raid on residence of senior journalist and Editor of “Daily Afaaq” Ghulam Jeelani Qadri and his subsequent arrest by Indian police.

Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar termed the action as extremely shocking. He also condemned declaring the veteran journalist a proclaimed offender when the said person as usual performing his daily routine work including his professional duties at his office. He expressed his support and solidarity for senior journalist. »

Srinagar, June 26 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the family members of Ali Muhammad Mir, who was tortured and killed by infamous government gunmen known as Ikhwani staged a protest demonstration on his 23rd death anniversary, today, in Press Colony in Srinagar demanding justice.

Ali Muhammad Mir, a resident of Brein Nishat in Srinagar outskirts, was tortured and killed by infamous Ikhwani Papa Kishtiwari and his associates on this day in 1996.

“We have staged this protest demonstration to remind the world of our struggle for much-awaited justice,” Ali Muhammad Mir’s son, Mir Zahoor Ahmed, told reporters. »
