Demos in IOK against increasing incidents of braid-chopping

Srinagar, October 01 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the puppet authorities continued to impose strict restrictions in Srinagar on the second consecutive day, today, to prevent people from taking out Muharram processions.

The authorities have deployed Indian troops and police and paramilitary personnel in full riot-gear across the city to stop the Muharram processions. Pedestrian movement has been suspended while the forces’ personnel have placed coils of razor-fitted wire on the main roads to prevent movement of traffic. Officials told media that the restrictions will remain in force until tomorrow, the Aashura – 10th day of the Islamic month of Muharram.

Indian police had arrested dozens of mourners including an eight-year-old boy Haider Ansari, son of Jammu and Kashmir Ittehad-ul-Mslimeen President Masroor Abbas Ansari, during a Muharram procession in Srinagar, yesterday. Scores of people were injured due to the use of brute force on mourners by Indian troops and police personnel in the city. »

Denounces restrictions on Muharram processions in IOK

Srinagar, September 30 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani, has expressed serious concern over the increasing lawlessness, harassment, bullying by Indian forces’ personnel and incidents of braid chopping in the territory.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar suspected the involvement of Indian forces in the braid chopping incidents and said in a highly militarized zone, the culprits go unnoticed. He said the silence and incapability of the puppet authorities speaks volumes about the grave situation. It is highly condemnable that despite attacks on modesty of womenfolk by these mysterious elements, the authorities are not ashamed of their failure, he said. »
