Srinagar, March 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference staged a protest at Hyderpora in Srinagar against the killing of civilians in Indian army’s firing on a private car in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

The protesters rued the silence of the United Nations and international community over the civilian killings in the occupied territory. Carrying banners and placards reading ‘Stop Civilian Killings’, ‘Stop Genocide’ and ‘Civilian Killings Unacceptable’, the protesters raised anti-India and pro-freedom slogans. »

Geneva, March 07 (KMS): Kashmiri representatives briefed Michel Frost, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders and European Parliament members during the 37th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva.

A Kashmiri delegation comprised Sardar Amjad Yousuf, Hassan-al-Banna, Advocate Parvez Ahmed Shah, Shameem Shawl and Professor Shagufta Ashraf informed Michel Frost about the situation of human rights defenders in occupied Kashmir where the rights activists especially journalists and lawyers were harassed, intimidated and detained by Indian occupation forces. »

Srinagar, March 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, an Indian army soldier committed suicide in Kupwara district, today.

The soldier identified as Birender Sinha (24) shot himself dead with his service rifle at the camp of 30 Rashtriya Rifles at Langate in Handwara area of the district. »

Srinagar, March 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court has directed all Principal District and Sessions Judges to inform the court within four weeks about the jail conditions in their jurisdictions.

A division bench of Chief Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed and Justice Ali Muhammad Magrey issued the direction after hearing Advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom on behalf of High Court Bar Association of occupied Kashmir. »

Jammu, March 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Jammu Province Peoples’ Forum (JPPF), an amalgam of various organizations, has called upon the puppet regime to accord stern punishment to the culprits behind the rape and murder of Kathua victim girl, Aasifa Bano.

The President of the Forum, Paviter Singh, addressing a press conference in Jammu, referring to BJP’s role in the entire episode, asked the regime to refrain from politicizing the issue. »

Srinagar, March 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a fresh petition was filed before the High Court pertaining to the repeated detention of senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Muslim League, Masarrat Aalam Butt, currently lodged at Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu under the draconian law, Public Safety Act.

The petition filed by Masarrat Aalam Butt’s uncle states that his nephew has been under prolonged detention under repeated PSAs, which badly affected his rights as a human being. »

South Kashmir shuts against killings
Srinagar, March 06 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown will be observed, tomorrow, against the civilian killings in Shopian and shifting of illegally detained Hurriyat leaders from Srinagar central jail to jails in Jammu.

Call for the strike has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. The leaders in a joint statement described the civilian killings and the shifting of prisoners including Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo and Dr Muhammad Shafi Shariati as acts of state terrorism. The JRL has also called for a march towards Shopian, tomorrow, for the congregational condolence of six civilians martyred in Indian army firing on a private vehicle in Pahnoo area of Shopian district on Sunday night. The statement said that JRL leaders and activists along with people will march towards Shopian to pay tributes to the martyrs. »
