Srinagar, August 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League (JKML) has said that unfurling Indian flag under the siege of occupation forces inside the four walls of Bakhshi Stadium will not affect the disputed nature of Jammu and Kashmir.

The JKML General Secretary Mohammad Rafiq Ganai in a statement in Srinagar said from last almost seven decades the people of Kashmir have not given any importance to the futile exercise. He India should realize the ground situation and show seriousness towards Kashmir dispute and should fulfill the promises made by its leadership with the people of Kashmir of giving them their right to self-determination. »

Srinagar, August 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyat leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League (JKPL), Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, has said that that the people of Kashmir are demanding right to self-determination, which was promised to them by India and the world community.

Mukhtar Ahmad Waza addressing a party meeting in Kulgam said that the cruel Indian rulers had no right to describe themselves democrats. »

Srinagar, August 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM) has condemned the authorities for turning the entire Valley into a military garrison.

Hurriyat leader and the JKSM Chairman, Zafar Akbar Butt in a statement in Srinagar said the arrests, cordon and search operations and harassment of Hurriyat leaders and activists cannot suppress the freedom sentiment of Kashmiri people. He said on one side India was celebrating its Independence Day and on the other, Indian forces were committing atrocities on the Kashmiri people to intimidate them and silence their voice for their basic right. »

Islamabad, August 16 (KMS): Foreign Office (FO) Spokesman, Dr Mohammad Faisal has condemned the continued killing spree by the Indian troops in occupied Kashmir.

Dr Mohammad Faisal in his briefing in Islamabad expressed concern over the health condition of illegally detained Hurriyat leaders including Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Masarrat Aalam Butt, Aasiya Andrabi, Nahida Nasreen, Fahmeeda Sofi, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Altaf Ahmed Shah, Peer Saifullah, Merajuddin Kalwal, Farooq Ahmed Dar, Ayaz Muhammad Akbar, Shahid-ul-Islam and Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori languishing in different jails. »

Srinagar, August 15 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Pakistani flags were hoisted at many places in the Kashmir Valley to mark 14th August, the Independence Day of Pakistan.

Pakistan’s Independence Day was celebrated in various areas including Shopian, Bijbehara and Kulgam. Pakistani flag was hoisted at these places by the people singing the national anthem of the Pakistan. Mini-parades were also held on this occasion.

Pakistani flag was hoisted in Barzulla area of Srinagar while in the evening people burst fire-crackers at Nowhatta in downtown Srinagar to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day. »

Srinagar, August 15 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, today, condemned the harassment of Hurriyat leader Shahid-ul-Islam’s family by the Indian agencies.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the Indian agencies tormented the wife and children of Shahid-ul-Islam. He said that these agencies were repeatedly visiting Shahid-ul-Islam’s home to harass his family members. Shahid-ul-Islam, he added, has been arbitrarily detained with no charges proved against him, and is languishing in subhuman condition at Delhi’s Tihar Jail for his political beliefs. »

Islamabad, August 15 (KMS): The All Parties Hurriyet Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter staged a protest demonstration outside the Indian High Commission in Islamabad to mark India’s Independence Day as Black Day, today.

The protesters expressed concern over the unabated wave of killings by the Indian troops in occupied Kashmir and warned New Delhi against the use of brutal tactics to crush the Kashmiris’ freedom movement. The participants of the demonstration said that the Indian government was hatching conspiracies against demography of Jammu and Kashmir by abrogating Article 35-A. The move, they said, is aimed to convert Muslim majority Jammu and Kashmir into a minority by settling Indian citizens in the territory. »

Srinagar, August 15 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani has condemned the attack on the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student leader, Umar Khalid, in broad daylight during a function in New Delhi saying that such lawlessness and hooliganism if not checked and stopped will have catastrophic effects for India.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar while terming the incident as yet another example of communal vandalism said that communal and fascist forces in India had never tolerated the existence of those standing for peace, justice and equal rights. He pointed out that the people who individually or collectively raised their voice and showed some concern about the basic and fundamental rights were being targeted, assaulted, tortured and even killed in present-day India. »

Srinagar, August 15 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani and other Hurriyat leaders and organizations have said that India has no right to celebrate its Independence Day in Kashmir as it is illegally occupying the territory against the will of the Kashmiri people.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “The Indian Independence Day has always brought countless miseries in terms of unending night raids, harassment, arrest of our youth and a suffocating environment for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.” The APHC Chairman said that Indian people had every right to celebrate their Independence Day but forcing a suppressed and oppressed population to participate in “their movement of joy and happiness” was neither justified nor did it stand any ethical or democratic ground. »

Washington, August 15 (KMS): The Secretary General of Washington-based World Kashmir Awareness Forum, Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai, has said that India persists in allying itself with a position that has no legal, moral or constitutional authority to celebrate its Independence Day in occupied Kashmir which is not a part of the Indian territory.

Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai in an article wrote, “Under the international law, today, Kashmir does not belong to any member country of the United Nations. It is recognized by the United Nations as a disputed territory whose future is yet to be decided by its people.” He wrote, the issue of Kashmir is by no definition a border dispute between India and Pakistan, nor a struggle between theocracy and secularism, or a fight between Hindus and Muslims. “It is about honoring the political and human rights of the 22 million Kashmiri people in accord with international law, justice and morality.” »
