Srinagar, July 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the new front put up by the Kashmiri business community in the name of Jammu and Kashmir Coordination Committee (JKCC) is observing shutdown against the detention of various traders and businessmen in the territory.

Police on Tuesday detained at least 100 traders and other businessmen outside the Srinagar Civil Secretariat when they were protesting against the Goods and Services Tax (GST) implementation in the territory. Among the arrested were Shakeel Qalandar, Muhammad Yasin Khan and Dr Mubeen Shah. They were put under house detention. The JKCC, an amalgam comprising traders, hoteliers, industrialists and civil society members, called for a complete shutdown against the detentions. »

Srinagar, July 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the puppet authorities imposed curfew-like restrictions in Srinagar, today, to prevent protests against Indian government’s plans of extending Goods and Services Tax (GST) to the territory.

Indian police vans announced curfew in Maharaj Gunj, Nowhatta, Safa Kadal, Khanyar and Rainawari and other areas of Srinagar. A tight curfew remained in place in these areas with police and paramilitary personnel patrolling the streets to foil protests. »

Srinagar, July 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops thrashed an engineering student, Mouzam Bashir Wani, for overtaking an army convoy in Banihal on Srinagar-Jammu highway.

The student was beaten up and abused by the troops. Mouzam Bashir Wani was travelling in a car along with his friends when he was stopped by the soldiers on the highway. »

Srinagar, July 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, rich tributes were paid to the youth, Jahangir Ahmad Khanday, Kifayat Ahmad and Akhtar Paal, martyred by Indian troops during a siege and search operation at Bahmnoo in Pulwama district.

Dukhtaran-e-Millat General Secretary Nahida Nasreen in her statement said, “Despite unending repression and endless brutalities of Indian forces, the Kashmiri youth continue to stand up against New Delhi’s forcible control.” She said that it had become a routine now “as we are losing our pro-freedom brothers in large numbers”. »

Srinagar, July 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian police have decided to arrest Hurriyat leaders, activists and youth to prevent anti-India protests during the week-long programmes announced by joint resistance leadership in connection with the martyrdom anniversary of charismatic young liberation leader, Burhan Wani.

A top police officer in a media interview in Srinagar said that they had decided to take ‘preventive detentions’ across Jammu and Kashmir to avoid protests. “We will go for preventive detention of leaders and organizers across Kashmir,” Inspector General of Police, Muneer Ahmad Khan, told media. »

Srinagar, July 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the joint resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik has issued a week-long protest calendar from July 7 to 13 to commemorate the martyrdom anniversaries of popular youth leader, Burhan Wani, and his two associates and the martyrs of July 13, 1931.

Burhan Wani along with his two associates was martyred by Indian troops in a fake encounter on July 8, last year. His extrajudicial killing triggered the ongoing mass uprising in the territory. »

Srinagar, July 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, member of the so-called Kashmir Assembly, Engineer Abdur Rasheed, entered into a heated exchange of words with the BJP legislators when he shouted that he was not an Indian.

“I am not an Indian,” Engineer Rasheed reiterated while referring to BJP legislators. “We demand our right to self-determination”. This infuriated the BJP legislators who shouted back saying that they will hang Rasheed in the street. »

Islamabad, July 05 (KMS): The Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter of the Hurriyet forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has condemned the harassment of Hurriyat leaders by India’s National Investigation Agency in occupied Kashmir.

The forum leaders at a meeting in Islamabad, today, also expressed concern over stepped-up Indian state terrorism in the occupied territory. The meeting was chaired by the Convener, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi. »

Srinagar, July 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, people in Shopian and Pulwama districts were rendered heartbroken over receiving just charred body parts of three youth killed by Indian troops during a 24-hour long military operation at Bahmnoo in Pulwama district.

Body of Kifayat Ahmad Khanday, one of the three martyred youth, could be identified only after a long struggle as it was charred beyond recognition because the troops had used chemical substance to destroy the four-storey residential house where he along with his two associates Jahangir Khanday and Faisal Ahmad were present during the operation. »
