Srinagar, August 31 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the authorities sealed Srinagar’s historic Jamia Masjid, today, to prevent people from staging demonstrations against onslaught on the Article 35-A of the Indian Constitution, which guarantees special rights and privileges to the permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir.

Call for the peaceful demonstrations was given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik and supported by High Court Bar Association, transporters and traders’ bodies. It protests were aimed at registering protests against the Indian conspiracies to change the demographic composition of Jammu and Kashmir by abrogating the Article 35-A. »

Srinagar, August 31 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the United Jihad Council has termed the arrest of the second son of its chief, Syed Salahuddin, by India’s National Investigation Agency as a vengeance.

The UJC in a statement issued in Srinagar said the Indian forces and agencies by targeting the houses and families of freedom activists were making vain attempts to break the resolve of the resistance leadership. “The Indian forces and agencies are frustrated by the increasing activities of mujahideen and as such target their houses and relatives. Such cowardly acts strengthen our resolve to fight for freedom,” it said. »

Brussels, August 31 (KMS): The Chairman of Kashmir Council Europe (KCEU), Ali Raza Syed, has expressed solidarity with the families of the people subjected to custodial disappearance by the Indian troops and police in occupied Kashmir.

As per the Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP) over 8,000 Kashmiris have vanished in the custody after they were picked up by the Indian troops, police and paramilitary forces during the last three decades and the families of these victims had no information about their whereabouts. »

Srinagar, August 31 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has strongly condemned the arrest of the second son of prominent freedom leader, Syed Salahuddin, and said that such cowardly acts could not break the resolve of the resistance leadership.

A DFP spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar termed the arrest of Syed Shakeel Yousuf as vengeful act of the Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA). He said Indian agencies like ED and NIA have been tasked to break the will of the resistance leadership so these agencies have intensified their willful campaign of character assassination against the leadership. »

New Delhi, August 31 (KMS): Supreme Court of India, today, adjourned the hearing in petitions seeking abrogation of Article 35A of the Indian Constitution, which guarantees special rights and privileges to the permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir and bars non-Kashmiris from buying property in the territory.

The petitions came up for the hearing, today, in the apex court which adjourned the case till January 2019. The case will now be heard in the 2nd week of January. »

New Delhi, August 31 (KMS): Noted writer-activist, Arundhati Roy, has termed the crackdown on human rights activists across India as “Divert and Rule” policy of the BJP government.

Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Arundhati Roy expressed fear that in the run up to the 2019 general elections, the BJP will “try to derail everything” with “some surprise attack”. She urged people to not allow their “attention to stray from even when strange events befall us” and hold the government accountable for its actions. »

Srinagar, August 31 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), Syed Ali Gilani has urged people to boycott the upcoming local bodies and panchayat elections.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “Participation in these elections is synonymous to treason with the blood of martyrs. Indian authorities are misleading the world community by portraying people’s participation in elections as a verdict in their favour.”

He appealed to the people to boycott all the forthcoming so-called elections including Assembly or Parliamentary polls.

New Delhi, 31 August (KMS): Sounding the bugle of revolt against the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, a parallel body of Hindu saints on Thursday resolved to work out an amicable solution to the centuries old Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute in Ayodhya, reports Kashmir Media Service.

Drawn from local congregations and a few other north Indian religious centres, these “anti-VHP” saints met formally for the first time on Thursday under the banner of the Vishwa Dharam Raksha Parishad. The Parishad threatened to wage a war against the VHP, which they alleged was indulging in petty politicking.

The parishad resolved, “to ensure peaceful co-existence of both a temple and a mosque” at the disputed site. While giving a clarion call to oust the VHP from the temple movement, the leaders of the outfit even threatened to use force against them.
