Srinagar, April 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed in poll-bound areas of Central Kashmir, today, to protest against the holding of so-called Indian Parliamentary elections.

Call for the shutdown has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership. All shops and business establishments are closed while traffic is off the road in all the three poll-bound districts of Srinagar, Badgam and Ganderbal in Central Kashmir where polling is being held in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections. »

Srinagar, April 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court Bar Association (HCBA) has reiterated its stance that holding of sham elections in the territory is a futile exercise.

The HCBA in a statement issued in Srinagar said the elections drama in the territory has benefitted only those who are interested in the prolonging of the settlement of the Kashmir dispute. It said until Kashmir dispute is resolved in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, there will be no peace in the region. »

Srinagar, April 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), has strongly condemned the issuance of summon to Sama Shabbir, the daughter of illegally detained party Chairman Shabbir Ahmed Shah, by India’s Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Sama Shabbir topped the 12th class examination in May last year. ED has issued summon to Sama directing her to appear before it. »

Jammu, April 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Movement (JKFM), Muhammad Sharif Sartaj, has denounced the attack on the owner of a restaurant, Tauseef Ahmed, by activists of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bhaderwah town of Doda district in Jammu region.

Muhammad Sharif Sartaj in a statement issued in Jammu said that the BJP activists attacked Tauseef Ahmed, the owner of Zaiqa Restaurant in Bhaderwah, when he was coming back after delivering an order to a customer. He said the BJP attackers in a street severely tortured him and latter people took him to hospital for treatment. The situation of Bhaderwah is tense after the incident. »

‘Direct jail authorities to provide medicines to detainee’

Srinagar, April 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the counsel for illegally detained Hurriyat leader, Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam, has pleaded a court of India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) to direct the jail authorities to provide medical treatment and medicines to his client.

The counsel in a letter to the NIA court special judge, Rakesh Syal, wrote that present application for interim bail has been filed on behalf of Shahid-ul-Islam in connection with a case registered against him. »

Srinagar, April 17 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, two Indian soldiers were injured when unknown gunmen opened fire on their vehicle at Khudwani area of Kulgam district on Wednesday evening.

Reports said that unknown gunmen opened fire on a private vehicle carrying army men of intelligence wing at Khudwani area. In the attack, two army men suffered injuries and were shifted to a military hospital for treatment. »

Shutdown on sham Indian polls tomorrow
Srinagar, April 17 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has appealed to the people to boycott the second phase of parliamentary election drama scheduled to be held in Srinagar and Udhampur, tomorrow.

The APHC Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani in a statement in Srinagar said that a military exercise in the name of election was being thrust upon the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The Joint Resistance Leadership, in the meanwhile, has asked people to observe complete shutdown in the poll-bound areas of Srinagar, Badgam and Gandarbal, tomorrow, to protest against the holding of sham elections. »

Srinagar, April 17 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a Central Reserve Police Force(CRPF) personnel was injured in a grenade attack in Tral area of Pulwama district, today.

An official said that unknown men lobbed a grenade at CRPF camp in Nowdal village of Tral resulting in injuries to one CRPF personnel. »

Srinagar, April 17 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference, Shabbir Ahmed Dar, and Hurriyat leaders Muhammad Iqbal Mir, Imtiaz Ahmed Reshi, Ghulam Nabi Wasim and Ghulam Nabi War have strongly condemned the murderous assault on Kashmiri prisoners in Srinagar Central Jail.

The leaders in their statements in Srinagar termed the attacks on jail inmates as the most brutal incident in the resistance history of Jammu and Kashmir.

“The authorities have crossed all the limits by registering an FIR against these prisoners of conscience. The hunger strike by the inmates is a matter of grave concern as this can pose a serious threat to their lives,” they said. »
