Imam lynched by Hindutva goons in Jharkhand
Ranchi: In a tragic incident, an imam was lynched by Hindutva extremists while returning home after leading prayers at a mosque in India’s Jharkhand state.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the victim, identified as Maulana Akbar Hussain, was reportedly attacked in the town of Dumka.
Eyewitnesses reported that Hussain was falsely accused of theft and brutally assaulted despite his protests. Passersby found him injured and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Dumka’s Superintendent of Police, Rajesh Kumar, attributed the incident to mistaken identity related to a local theft.
However, the incident has sparked widespread outrage and fear among the local Muslim community, who feel targeted and unsafe. Community leaders have called for a thorough and impartial investigation to ensure justice is served. “This is not an isolated incident,” said Asif Ali, a prominent local activist. “There have been several instances where minorities have been attacked under various pretexts. We demand a fair investigation to uncover the truth.”
The death of Maulana Akbar Hussain is a grim reminder of the challenges posed by extremist Hindus and the need for vigilance and justice to prevent such tragedies from recurring.
