‘No oppression can crush Kashmiris’ resolve for freedom’: AJK president declares
Bagh, : The President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry has said that the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir are enduring severe brutality under India’s current government but stressed that no amount of oppression can break their spirit in their struggle for freedom.
According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing a gathering at the District Bar Association event in Bagh, Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry reaffirmed that the Kashmir struggle is at a critical juncture, with the hopes and aspirations of the Kashmiri people intertwined with the people and government of Pakistan.
Chaudhry stressed that AJK remains the base camp for the Kashmir freedom movement, highlighting the essential role that the legal community has played in supporting the cause. He condemned India’s actions since the illegal abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, which he said had intensified the repression of Kashmiris. Despite these challenges, he expressed confidence that the Kashmiris’ fight for self-determination would ultimately succeed.
“The Modi government has tightened its grip on Kashmir, but no amount of oppression can crush the Kashmiri people’s resolve for freedom. Inshallah, Kashmir will soon be free,” Chaudhry declared, reaffirming his belief in the imminent achievement of Kashmir’s freedom in line with the United Nations resolutions.
In addition to addressing the Kashmir issue, Chaudhry also condemned Israeli aggression against Palestinians, urging the international community to take decisive action to end the injustices faced by both Kashmiris and Palestinians. He called on AJK lawyers to raise their voices against the Indian and Israeli atrocities, particularly leveraging social media to draw global attention to the ongoing struggles.
The AJK president further emphasized the vital role of lawyers in society, urging them to ensure justice for ordinary citizens. “Lawyers have always been at the forefront of defending the Constitution and the rule of law. No nation can progress without the supremacy of law,” he said.
During the event, Raja Mehmood Khan Advocate, President of the District Bar Association Bagh, praised Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry for his tireless efforts in raising the Kashmir issue on the international stage. He acknowledged the significant contributions of Chaudhry to the Kashmir cause, describing his work as a bright chapter in history that would be remembered for generations to come.
