Indian forces kill five in Chhattisgarh
Raipur: Indian forces’ personnel killed five individuals in the violence-hit Chhattisgarh state.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident occurred in the Narayanpur district, where, as per Indian police, a gunfight broke out in a forest area under the Kohkameta police station in Abhujmad forest.
A joint team from various forces, including the Indian Border Security Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), District Reserve Guard (DRG), and Special Task Force (STF), was conducting an anti-Naxal operation when the encounter happened, Inspector general of police, Bastar range, Sunderaj P said .
He confirmed that the forces killed five Maoists during the operation.
So far this year, Indian forces’ personnel have killed 138 Maoists in separate incidents across the state. Out of these, 136 Maoists were gunned down in the Bastar division, which comprises seven districts, while two others were killed in Dhamtari district, falling under the Raipur division, police said.
