APHC expresses concern over plight of detained Hurriyat leaders, activists

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has expressed grave concern over the plight of detained Hurriyat leaders, activists, and youth in various jails of India and occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Manhas in a statement in Srinagar highlighted the prolonged detention of Hurriyat leaders and activists on flimsy pretexts. He noted that detainees are being denied essential medical care and basic facilities, and are implicated in false cases without being produced in courts.

The statement paid tribute to the unwavering resolve and sacrifices of Kashmiri detainees, including APHC Chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Aasiya Andrabi, Nahida Nasreen, Fahmeeda Sofi, Ayaz Akbar, Shahid-ul-Islam, Merajuddin Kalwal, Peer Saifullah, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Dr Hameed Fayaz, Khurram Parvaiz, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Abdul Ahad Parra, Molvi Bashir Ahmad Irfani, Bilal Siddiqi, Ameer Hamza, Dr Shafi Shariati, Dr Qasim Fakhtoo, Mohammad Rafiq Gania, Showkat Hakeem, Umar Adil Dar, Mohammad Hayat Butt, Noor Muhammad Fayaz, Muhammad Yousuf Fallahi, Advocate Zahid Ali, Zafar Akbar Butt, Saleem Nanaji, Muhammad Yasin Butt, Fayaz Hussain Jafari, Sarjan Barkati, Zahoor Ahmed Butt, Adil Siraj Zargar and Dawood Zargar. The APHC affirmed that their immense sacrifices will never be in vain.

The spokesperson condemned the Modi government’s use of notorious probe agencies like the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and State Investigation Agency (SIA) to intimidate Kashmiris, asserting that these tactics will not succeed.

The APHC has called on the United Nations and the International Court of Justice to send teams to the occupied territory to assess the conditions of the detained Hurriyat leaders, activists and youth.

Additionally, the APHC spokesperson paid glowing tribute to renowned Kashmiri leader Shaheed Shaikh Abdul Aziz on the 16th anniversary of his martyrdom, acknowledging his lifelong dedication to the Kashmir cause.
