‘Panel formed for talks with Indian govt no more exists’

'Jamaat-e-Islami has no connection with so-called panel'

Srinagar: Former Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir Ghulam Muhammad Butt has said that they had formed a panel for talks with the Indian government but it has failed and now the panel does not exist.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Ghulam Muhammad Butt in a video message said the Indian government has banned Jamaat-e-Islami in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and its activities are currently suspended. He said that they had gone to court against the ban but the decision came against them. “Now we will move the Indian Supreme Court and I hope we will get justice,” he added.

He further said since the talks with the Indian government have not yielded any results, now if that panel does any activity, it is wrong and illegal. He said this panel has also made its own constitution which is completely against the constitution of Jamaat-e-Islami. He said the activities of this panel are completely against the 85-year performance of Jamaat-e-Islami.

Ghulam Muhammad Butt said, “We have nothing to do with this panel and we do not accept it.” He said when the people of this panel come to him, he welcomes them well and treats them well because this is what our Prophet (peace be upon him) has taught Muslims. “However, they make pictures with me and later misuse these pictures and propagate that we have the support of Ghulam Muhammad Butt. They misrepresent, which is very sad,” he lamented. He sincerely hoped that the people would consider their behavior.

The former Ameer said the ban on Jamaat-e-Islami will end because no organization can be banned for long.

It should be remembered that Ghulam Muhammad Butt joined Jamaat-e-Islami in 1965 and was appointed as the Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Occupied Kashmir in 1985 and held the position for twelve consecutive years. He has also been the director of education of the organization.

Meanwhile, another former Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami of occupied Kashmir, Muhammad Abdullah Wani, also said in a video message, “The Indian government has banned us, due to which we are facing severe difficulties, we cannot do any activity.”

He said that he was surprised that JI is banned but some people use the name of the organization and say that they have the support of the organization, which is a complete exaggeration. These people are creating a misunderstanding which is very sad and condemnable, he added.

Muhammad Abdullah Wani said Jamaat-e-Islami is not supporting any organization. “We are peaceful people and believe in welfare work. We were made to suffer,” he maintained.
