Modi govt has also usurped religious freedom of IIOJK Muslims: Mushaal

Islamabad: Mushaal Hussein Mullick, the Chairperson of Peace and Culture Organisation and wife of jailed Kashmiri Hurriyat leader, Muhammad Yasin Malik, has said that the Modi government has also usurped the religious freedom of Muslims in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, which is highly condemnable.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Mushaal Hussein Mullick in a statement issued in Islamabad condemned the ban on Ashura processions and the arrest of youth and said that the Modi government is hurting the religious sentiments of Muslims, adding taking out processions in memory of the Karbala incident has become a crime.

She said practising religion is a basic human right, but the Indian administration has snatched this right of Kashmiri Muslims as well. Modi’s religious oppression is no longer hidden from the world, she added.

Mashaal called upon the United Nations and other international human rights organizations to take notice of the restrictions on religious freedom in Kashmir and take concrete steps to ensure that Kashmiris have their right to self-determination.
