IOJK Congress to intensify statehood campaign: Karra

Srinagar: The Indian National Congress chapter in occupied Jammu and Kashmir has announced plans to intensify its campaign for the restoration of statehood.

According to Kashmir Media Service, IOJK chapter party president Tariq Hameed Karra, speaking to the media in Srinagar, said the campaign is already underway across the territory and will now enter a more focused phase.

“Since the Parliament is being held on the 21st, we have, in principle, agreed to intensify this campaign. A detailed plan is being drawn to scale up activities both in Jammu and in Srinagar,” he said.

While no formal invitations have been sent, the IOJK Congress chief said that it was an open invitation to all political parties, civil society members, and citizens to join the movement. “This campaign is not limited to Congress or Congressmen. It is for all people, beyond party lines, beyond region or religion. Anyone concerned about the democratic rights of J&K is welcome to be part of it,” he added.

Highlighting the dual control system in IOJK, Karra said their campaign also aims to educate people about the implications of lost statehood. “We have made our workers and the public aware of why statehood matters. People must understand the cost of administrative disempowerment under the current arrangement,” he maintained.
