Stop using religion for personal benefit’: Ruhullah Mehdi to Imran Ansari

Srinagar: Member of Indian Parliament from Srinagar and senior leader of National Conference Agha Syed Ruhullah Mehdi has responded sharply to former minister and Shia leader Imran Ansari’s call for nominating Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei for the Nobel Peace Prize.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Ruhullah Mehdi, responding to Ansari’s post seeking a Nobel Prize nomination for Khamenei, said: “The same jurisprudential authority, Ayatullah Khamenei, has issued a decree (fatwa) that it is forbidden (Haram) to insult Khulafa Rashideen or sacred tenets or sanctities of Ahl al-Sunnah. If you are so much inspired by his leadership, stop doing what is forbidden. And stop using religion for your personal benefit,”

Imran Ansari had earlier taken to social media to endorse Khamenei’s nomination, citing his long-standing role in promoting peace and stability in the world, especially the Middle East.
