NC planning to move Indian SC for restoration of statehood: Omar

Srinagar: Chief Minister of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah has emphasized the need to restore the statehood of the territory without further delay.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Omar Abdullah, while talking to an Indian news agency, said despite promises in Parliament and the directives of the Indian Supreme Court, the issue of restoration of statehood has not been resolved yet.

He said, “We are not asking for anything that is not our right”, adding they will continue to raise this issue until statehood is achieved.

To a question, Omar Abdullah said his party is also planning to approach the Supreme Court of India for restoration of statehood and is also considering other options.

He rejected any suggestion that law and order would remain with the Indian government even after statehood was restored. He said that such speculations were being made by the same people who said that elections would not be held or should not be held.
