President Trump rejects India’s offer to remove tariffs

Washington: According to Kashmir Media Service, Donald Trump in his statement on social media platform, Truth Social, said it is too late and India should have done so many years ago.

He said India has imposed the highest tariffs on the US compared to other countries. Due to India’s high tariffs, American companies are not able to sell their products in India. He said India buys most of its oil and military equipment from Russia, and buys very little of these things from the US.

He said that on the other hand, India sells a large amount of goods to the US adding the US has been India’s largest buyer and this unilateral destruction of the one-sided trade relationship has been going on for decades.

He stressed that the proposal to reduce tariffs to zero is now outdated and this step should have been taken years ago. He said that for decades, trade relations between the two countries have been one-sided and India has imposed the highest tariffs on the United States, due to which American companies face difficulties in the Indian market. This situation has proven to be completely detrimental to the United States.

It should be noted that in the last few months, President Trump has increased the tariff on India from 25 percent to 50 percent for continuing to import oil from Russia.
