Fresh controversy erupts over installation of Ashoka emblem at Hazratbal Dargah shrine

Srinagar: A fresh controversy has erupted over the installation of the Ashoka emblem at the Hazratbal Dargah shrine in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, National Conference leader Tanvir Sadiq In a post on X said the move contradicts the fundamental Islamic belief of Tawheed.
He said that while he was not a religious scholar, Islam strictly forbids idol worship, calling it the gravest of sins. “The foundation of our faith is Tawheed,” he wrote.
He argued that placing the Ashoka emblem, described as a sculpted figure, inside the Dargah goes against this very principle. “Sacred spaces must reflect only the purity of Tawheed, nothing else,” Sadiq added.
The interior of the shrine was renovated and inaugurated on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, great Kashmiris broke the Indian Ashoka symbol on the Waqf board at Dargah Hazratbal in Srinagar. They said installing the Ashoka symbol on holy Dargah Srinagar was an attack on the basic Islamic belief of monotheism. This Hindutva RSS/BJP has done this through its Hindutva woman Dr Darakhshan Andrabi, they added.
Member of Indian Parliament from Srinagar and senior leader of National Conference Agha Syed Ruhullah Mehdi in a statement in Srinagar denounced the installation of the Ashoka emblem at the Hazratbal Dargah shrine and described it against the principles of Islam.
He said people were rightly offended by this dangerous attempt to play with religious sensitivities for self-glorification.
