Ashok Swain slams Modi for ‘bowing before Trump’ after seeking Xi’s support

Islamabad: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again come under sharp criticism for his contradictory foreign policy stance, with Swedish academic Ashok Swain calling him “not only spineless but also characterless.”

According to Kashmir Media Service, in a strongly worded statement on social media, Swain accused Modi of bowing before US President Donald Trump shortly after seeking Chinese President Xi Jinping’s support in Tianjin.

The criticism came in response to Modi’s tweet in which he expressed deep appreciation for Trump’s “sentiments and positive assessment” of Indo-US ties, reiterating his commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.

Observers note that Modi’s frequent shifts in diplomatic posture expose the inconsistency of India’s foreign policy and reflect his government’s desperation for international validation.
