Engineer Rashid on second day of hunger strike in Tihar Jail

New Delhi: Incarcerated Member of Parliament Engineer Rashid has entered the second day of his hunger strike at New Delhi’s Tihar Jail, drawing widespread support from across the Kashmir Valley.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) chief spokesperson Inam Un Nabi, in a statement, said Rashid has already completed over 30 hours of his 48-hour hunger strike. He described the protest as “not merely a personal sacrifice, but the strike reflects the immense hardships Kashmiris continue to face under Indian occupation.

Hundreds of AIP activists, social and human rights defenders, and members of civil society visited the party office in Srinagar to express solidarity with the jailed MP.

Inam emphasized that the overwhelming response demonstrates how Rashid’s voice, though confined behind prison walls, continues to resonate with the Kashmiri people, symbolizing their collective pain, resilience and unwavering demand for justice.
