Eyewitnesses and media reports confirmed that Aftaab was physically beaten and publicly humiliated.
An All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) spokesman, Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, strongly condemned the assault and demanded strict legal action against the Hindutva communal elements involved. He said the attack reflects that India has become a Hindutva communal state where Kashmiris are unsafe.
The APHC appealed to Kashmiri students and traders in India to remain cautious and avoid such events for their safety. It also urged New Delhi to withdraw its occupation forces and BJP-backed bureaucracy from occupied Jammu and Kashmir and allow the people to decide their political future in accordance with UN resolutions.
