Blaze guts several houses in Srinagar
Man found dead under mysterious circumstances in Rajouri
Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, several residential houses were destroyed in a massive fire that broke out in the Ganpatyar area of Habbakadal, Srinagar.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the blaze spread rapidly through the densely populated locality, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky and forcing panic-stricken residents to flee their homes. Eyewitnesses said flames engulfed multiple structures within minutes before fire and emergency services arrived.
“Three residential houses were completely gutted in the incident. The cause of the fire is being ascertained,” an official said.
Locals voiced concern over the poor accessibility of fire tenders in Srinagar’s congested old city areas, stressing the need for alternative response routes and improved infrastructure to handle such emergencies more effectively.
Though no casualties were reported, the affected families have suffered heavy property losses and are reportedly seeking assistance from local authorities.
Meanwhile, in another incident, a man was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the Nowshera area of Rajouri district. The deceased, an employee of the MES Store in Narian, was discovered inside the store premises. Indian officials said the cause of death is yet to be determined, adding that investigations are underway.
