Three injured after armed attack on check post in Jammu

Jammu: Panic gripped the Keerian-Gandayal area under Lakhanpur police station in Jammu region of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir after unknown assailants opened fire on a police checkpoint, triggering a chase and gunfire exchange.

According to Kashmir Media Service, police said the incident occurred when personnel at the checkpoint signaled a motorcycle coming from Indian Punjab towards Jammu to stop. Instead, the three riders reportedly opened fire on the police party and attempted to flee.

During the ensuing chase, the motorcycle lost control and crashed near the Keerian-Gandayal bridge, leaving all three assailants critically injured. They were shifted to Government Medical College, Kathua, where one of them remains in serious condition.

A case has been registered, and a probe has been launched to trace the wider network behind the incident.
