Hindu extremists beat Muslim youth to death in Delhi

New Delhi: A Muslim youth, severely beaten by Hindu extremists during the Diwali festival in the Indian capital, New Delhi, succumbed to his injuries in the hospital, sparking widespread outrage and grief within the Muslim community.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the victim, identified as Salman, a scrap dealer by profession, was attacked by Hindutva extremists on Diwali night. He succumbed to his injuries two days later in the hospital.

Salman’s brother, Anan, speaking to the media, recounted that Salman had been filming a video with his friends in the market when a group of Hindu youth suddenly attacked them. Shockingly, the police present at the scene stood by passively, failing to intervene or take action. The assailants mercilessly beat Salman. Family members insist that Salman was specifically targeted because of his Muslim identity.

The death has left the local Muslim community in deep sorrow, with many demanding an impartial and transparent investigation into the incident.

Local social worker Rashid Ali condemned the growing climate of intolerance, stating, “We (Muslims) have become second-class citizens in our own country. We are fed up with the hostile behavior from the majority community.” He further remarked, “A young man was brutally beaten to death on Diwali, yet those who preach peace and unity remain silent.”

Sameer Khan, a Muslim advocate, emphasized that this was not simply a clash between two groups, but a disturbing reflection of the increasing intolerance and deteriorating security for Muslims in Delhi.
