National Conference calls for immediate restoration of statehood in IIOJK

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the National Conference has stressed the need for the immediate restoration of the territory’s statehood and reaffirmed its commitment to the reinstating Jammu and Kashmir’s special status.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the NC Working Committee, which concluded its two-day meeting at the party headquarters in Srinagar, urged the Indian government to honour its parliamentary commitment and immediately restore IIOJK’s statehood. The meeting was chaired by NC President Farooq Abdullah and attended by Vice President and Chief Minister of the occupied territory, Omar Abdullah, along with other senior party leaders.
The Committee reiterated that the restoration of IIOJK’s special status was directly linked to the aspirations and dignity of the people, and therefore must be addressed immediately.
The Committee also expressed deep concern over the harassment of Kashmiri students and traders in various parts of India, calling on authorities to take concrete measured to ensure the safety and security of the lives and property of IIOJK residents.
It is worth mentioning that although the National Conference is heading the government in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP-led Indian government has concentrated all administrative and decision-making powers in the hands of Lieutenant Governor. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has repeatedly acknowledged his helplessness in this regard.
Meanwhile, the Modi regime continues to enforce its repressive measures through the office of the Lieutenant Governor, including confiscation and demolition of the homes of pro-freedom Kashmiris, arbitrary dismissal of Muslim employees, and other coercive actions.
