India engaged in ethnic cleansing of Kashmiris: APHC

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has expressed deep concern over the systematic denial of fundamental political rights to  the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), stating that India is pursuing an anti-Kashmir agenda and is engaged in the ethnic cleansing of Kashmiris.

According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued in Srinagar, condemned the killing of a student from Sopore in Jammu and urged the international community to resolve the longstanding Kashmir dispute in order to stop brutal killings of innocent Kashmiris by Indian occupying forces in the internationally recognized disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

He said the atrocities committed by Indian forces and intelligence agencies against Kashmiris engaged in a peaceful struggle for freedom have created an atmosphere of widespread fear and insecurity in the territory. He added that the BJP-led Indian government is attempting to subjugate Kashmiris at gunpoint, flagrantly violating international law.

Minhas emphasized that the people of Kashmir are pursuing a just struggle to achieve their inalienable right to self-determination, recognized by the United Nations. He stressed that the international community has a responsibility to hold India accountable for the heinous crimes against humanity in the occupied territory.

The APHC also called on UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to take notice of India’s nefarious attempts to reduce the Muslim majority in Kashmir to a minority and to play an active role in resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the resolutions passed by the global body.
