One lakh fake degrees from 22 Indian universities recovered; 11 accused arrested

New Delhi: A gang, manufacturing fake degrees, has been arrested in the Indian state of Kerala and one lakh degrees have been recovered from their possession.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Indian media outlets say that the Kerala state police have arrested 11 accused in the fake degree case.

The accused told the police that the fake degrees were in medicine, nursing, engineering and other professional fields and jobs were also obtained on the basis of these degrees.

According to the police, the accused also confessed that they used to sell fake degrees for Rs 75,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh.

The police say the network that produced fake degrees was active not only in Kerala but also in other states of the country.

The police say that the fake degrees were mainly produced illegally and were also stamped with the official seals of one or two universities to make them difficult to verify.
