RSS behind closure of Jammu medical college to block Muslim admissions: Ruhullah

Srinagar: Member of Parliament Agha Syed Ruhullah has said that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) forced the abrupt closure of the Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence (SMVDIME) to prevent admissions of Muslim Kashmiris on merit.
According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking to reporters in Kangan, Gandarbal district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Ruhullah said that the Hindutva group is “communalising” Jammu and targeting educational institutions to restrict access to non-Hindu students. He questioned the value system of those opposing the college, funded by a temple trust, and urged them to introspect.
He added, “They have fallen so low, especially against Muslims, that they have now begun targeting educational institutions.”
“The general population of Jammu does not support such actions,” Ruhullah said, adding that decisions concerning Jammu and Kashmir must be inclusive. He also criticized the occupation regime for hiking power tariffs and delaying reservation rationalisation, saying the moves disproportionately affect the economically weaker sections.
