Pro-Iran protests held across IIOJK after Friday prayers

Srinagar: Peaceful demonstrations were held at several places in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) after Friday congregational prayers in support of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to Kashmir Media Service, protest rallies were taken out in several areas of Srinagar, Budgam and Pulwama, where participants raised slogans in favour of Iran and against the US and Israel.

In Srinagar, demonstrations took place in Hassanabad and the Gund Hassi Bhat localities, with protesters expressing solidarity with Iran and its supreme leader, Ayatullah Syed Ali Khamenei.

Carrying placards and banners, the demonstrators condemned what they described external pressure and interference against Iran. They raised slogans in favour of Iran and its leadership, and against the US and Israel.

Similar protests were held at the Main Chowk in Budgam and the Gangoo area in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Speaking to reporters in Pulwama, a religious leader said the US and Israel, along with their allies, were committing atrocities against Muslims across the world. “Mossad and CIA agents are attacking security forces and innocent people in Iran. We came together to protest against the atrocities of America and Israel,” he said.

He added that the people of IIOJK wanted to convey a message of solidarity, saying “we are alive and Muslims across the world are always ready to support their Muslim brothers”.
