Jammu university students protest NCTE’s refusal of recognition, academic future at risk

Jammu,: Students of the Physical Education Department at Jammu University in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir staged a protest after the National Council for Teacher Education refused recognition to their department, putting their academic future at stake.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the protesting students said the refusal of recognition by the NCTE has created uncertainty among those enrolled in the Physical Education programme at the University of Jammu. They said that despite fulfilling academic requirements and attending classes, they are now facing the risk of their degrees losing validity.
Students said that they were neither informed in advance nor taken into confidence about the recognition status of the department. They said the issue has caused severe mental stress, with many fearing that years of hard work may go in vain.
During the protest, students demanded immediate intervention by the university administration and higher authorities to resolve the matter at the earliest. They urged the administration to take up the issue with the NCTE and ensure that recognition is granted without further delay.
The protesters warned that if their concerns are not addressed promptly, they would intensify their agitation. They said the authorities must safeguard the academic interests of students and prevent such situations in the future.
