Gawkadal-like massacres expose brutal Indian occupation in IIOJK: APHC

Srinagar: Paying rich tributes to the victims of the Gawkadal Srinagar massacre on its 36th anniversary, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) said the massacre was orchestrated by the then notorious BJP-RSS-backed Governor, Jagmohan Malhotra, in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the Gawkadal-like massacres were among the most brutal incidents in the Kashmir Valley, exposing India’s oppressive and occupation-driven policies in the territory. “No one can forget this massacre, when innocent Kashmiris were butchered in the streets of Srinagar,” he added.
The statement urged international human rights organizations to take notice of the escalating violations in the territory, emphasizing that Indian troops have committed scores of massacres in IIOJK, yet not a single soldier involved in these atrocities has been punished. Despite more than three decades passing, the victims of the Gawkadal carnage are still seeking justice.
The APHC condemned India’s continued killings of innocent Kashmiris aimed at suppressing their just struggle for the UN-mandated right to self-determination, asserting that these nefarious designs will never succeed.
The APHC appealed to the United Nations and global human rights bodies to independently probe all massacres carried out by Indian forces in the occupied territory and ensure that the perpetrators are held accountable.
