Four youth returning from Namaz waylaid, assaulted in UP’s Aligarh

Aligarh: Four Muslim youth were injured, two of them critically, after they were attacked by a group of men while returning home after offering namaz in Aligarh’s Shahjamal area

According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident occurred in the Telipada locality, under the Rorawar police station area. Relatives said that the youth were heading back peacefully from the mosque when they were surrounded and beaten by a group of around a dozen attackers armed with sticks.

The injured were first taken to Malkhan Singh District Hospital, where doctors treated them for serious injuries. Two of the victims were later referred to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Hospital after doctors found their condition critical.

Locals said the incident began with an argument between two groups in the neighbourhood soon after the youth left the mosque.

According to witnesses, the dispute was taken to the police station, where both sides reportedly reached a compromise. However, families say the matter did not end there.

Relatives said the accused later waited for the youth and attacked them again while they were on their way home.

A resident of the area said, “There was an argument earlier and the matter even went to the police station. But later, the boys were surrounded and beaten when they were returning home.”

The father of one of the injured youth said that his son and his friends had gone to offer namaz and were returning home when they were attacked. He said the matter had already been settled at the police station before the assault took place.

He added, “Later, the accused surrounded them on the road and started beating them. My children were badly injured.”
