Two Muslim teachers assaulted in Karnataka district, community demands action
Banglore: In a shocking display of anti-Muslim hostility, two Muslim school teachers were assaulted by Hindutva goons in the Bidar district of Karnataka, prompting thousands of community members to gather outside the police station demanding action against the attackers.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mohammed Arif (25) and Syed Imran (31) were attacked while taking a walk in Basavakalyan area. Members of the Muslim community described the attack as targeted, reporting that six to seven assailants threatened the two teachers with death and attacked them with stones, causing head injuries.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Madolappa said that five suspects have been arrested in connection with the assault.
Tensions escalated when protesters gathered outside the police station, with some allegedly throwing stones at the police personnel. Authorities have registered a separate case against 49 members of the Muslim community for allegedly attempting to lay siege to the station and attacking law enforcement staff.
Officials stated that the situation is now under control, with additional police forces deployed across the town to prevent further unrest.
