Daily wagers protest in Jammu, demand proper payment and benefits

Jammu: Daily wagers, mostly gardeners and watchmen, staged a protest outside the Jammu Press Club in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, demanding proper payment and benefits, and opposing the occupation regime’s anti-worker policies.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the protest was held under the auspices of the All Daily Wagers Jammu and Kashmir Sangharsh Samiti. Ther protesters demanded justice for Mali-cum-Chowkidars working in the Rural Development Department (RDD) without proper wages or benefits for decades.

Samiti president Sunny Kant Chib said that the workers have been suffering due to neglect by authorities, with no proper payment or attendance system in place. He said many have worked for 22 years without pay, and their families have suffered due to financial uncertainty.

The Samiti has given the occupation regime an ultimatum to implement the Minimum Wages Act and address grievances before March 31, threatening intensified agitation if demands aren’t met.
