54 communal riots, 7 mob lynching incidents reported in Odisha in 20 months

Bhubaneswar: Fifty-four communal riots and seven mob lynching incidents were reported in the BJP-ruled state of Odisha in the past 20 months.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi revealed this in a written statement to the Assembly, citing data from June 2024 to February 2026.
The statement said that 298 people were arrested in riot cases and 61 in lynching incidents during this period. The communal riots occurred in five districts:
Bhadrak, Malkangiri, Balasore, Koraput, and Khurda, while mob lynching incidents were registered in Deogarh, Dhenkanal, Balasore, and Rayagada.
The BJP government took office in Odisha on June 12, 2024.
