Srinagar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regime has not allowed All Parties Hurriyat Conference senior leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq to offer Friday prayers at the Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, and placed him under house arrest.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the New Delhi-controlled administration put Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest and stopped him from addressing Juma sermon at the Jamia Masjid.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement in Srinagar, strongly condemning the move of the occupation administration, said that he was put under arbitrary house arrest for the third consecutive Friday in Ramadan. He lamented that large contingents of police have been deployed in front of the gate of his residence and the entire area of Nageen in Srinagar.

He added that such measures could neither erase identity, nor weaken faith and such attempts would fail.
