Rahul condemns rising atrocities against Dalits, Adivasis in Gujarat

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has said that the environment of hatred, discrimination, and atrocities against Dalit and Adivasi communities in Gujarat has intensified under the BJP government.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Gandhi expressed solidarity with the victims of the 2016 Una flogging case, stating that the situation has worsened over the past decade.
In a video shared on social media, Gandhi interacted with a delegation of Dalit and Adivasi representatives from Gujarat, including Una incident victims. He described the meeting as “deeply distressing” and highlighted the brutal treatment of Dalits, citing cases of severe beatings and burning.
Gandhi criticized the BJP government, saying, “Under the BJP government in Gujarat, the environment of hatred, discrimination, and atrocities against Dalit and Adivasi communities has steadily intensified.” He vowed to continue amplifying the victims’ voices until justice is served.
The Una incident, which occurred on July 11, 2016, involved four Dalit youths being flogged by self-proclaimed cow vigilantes for skinning a dead cow. The victims are still awaiting justice, with Gandhi calling the prolonged wait a “grave injustice” .
