Retired Indian Army Brigadier Joshi shot dead in Uttarakhand

Dehradun: A retired Army Brigadier Vishweshwar Kant Joshi, was shot dead today (Monday) while he was on a morning walk in Dehradun, Uttarakhand state of India.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident took place near Tula Apartments in Johri village, where the victim was hit by a bullet, and officials informed that he died on the spot.
Seventy-four years old retired Brigadier Vishweshwar Kant Joshi was a former Brigadier of the Indian Army and Special Director of the Intelligence Bureau and was recently associated with the Indian intelligence agency RAW.
According to the police, the shooting took place during a dispute between people travelling in two vehicles and one of the bullets hit the Brigadier when he went out for a morning walk. He was immediately taken to the hospital where he died.
The incident has caused serious concern in India’s security and intelligence community.
Police and intelligence agencies are busy investigating, while a search operation is underway to identify and arrest the suspects.
According to initial reports, the full reasons for the incident have not yet come to light, however, officials have said that the facts will be clarified after the investigation is completed.
The area has been cordoned off after the incident and police personnel are on high alert.
