Indian media fuels misinformation on IIOJK situation, Say rights activists

Srinagar: Local rights activists have slammed the Indian media for its biased reporting on the rights situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, saying it echoes RSS-BJP narratives and masks ground realities.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the activists pointed out that Indian media’s coverage of Kashmir is often fabricated and false, amplifying misinformation to deflect global scrutiny from human rights violations in the territory. “Indian media is supporting Modi’s Hindutva agenda in Kashmir,” said a prominent activist.
Critics argue that Indian journalists and TV anchors are merely narrating what fits the Modi regime’s official policy on Kashmir, rather than practicing professional journalism. The biased reporting has been termed a “travesty of professional journalism”.
The activists’ comments come amid growing concerns about the Indian media’s role in shaping public opinion on Kashmir, with many questioning its credibility and objectivity.
