Explosion outside BJP headquarters in Chandigarh sparks panic
Chandigarh: An explosion outside the Hindutva Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters in Chandigarh, the capital of the Indian state of Punjab, has damaged the office building and spread panic across the area.
According to Kashmir Media Service, security authorities immediately sealed the site, and officials have withheld details regarding casualties. Local sources described the blast as of medium intensity.
Chandigarh SSP reported that a loud explosion was heard, prompting police teams rush to the scene. She added that investigations are ongoing.
No group has claimed responsibility so far.
Concerns have been raised about possible involvement of Sikh separatists and Khalistan-supporting groups. Defense experts note a rise in attacks by pro-Khalistan Sikh groups in Punjab, while political observers say Indian authorities’ strategy to crush the Khalistan movement through violence is failing.
