Snatching of Articles 370m 35A aims to crush local economy, settle outsiders in IIOJK: Report

Islamabad: Following the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A, the primary objective of the Indian BJP regime is to weaken the local economy, seize resources, and facilitate the settlement of outsiders in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, thereby undermining the identity of the Kashmiri people.
An analytical report released by Kashmir Media Service today stated that the Indian BJP government is enforcing systematic demographic changes in the Muslim-majority territory by selling land to outsiders, stripping locals of control over their economy and resources, and appointing non-locals to key positions. It added that over one million non-Kashmiri Indian forces personnel are already deployed in the region.
The BJP regime has issued lakhs of domicile certificates to non-Kashmiris, while hundreds have purchased land in IIOJK over the past six years. The report deplored that allocating land to Indian citizens and investors is intended to settle outsiders under the pretext of investment. It further stated that issuing domicile certificates to non-locals is aimed at altering the region’s demography, identity, and culture.
Meanwhile, the report noted that the people of IIOJK are being deprived of jobs and other opportunities in their own land. According to the report, the Indian BJP regime has effectively turned the occupied territory into a military garrison and has taken control of more land in various areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
The report emphasized that lasting peace in South Asia cannot be achieved without resolving the long-standing Kashmir dispute, taking into account the aspirations of the Kashmiri people in accordance with the Two-Nation Theory.
It also highlighted that thousands of Kashmiris, including Hurriyat leaders, have been detained in jails, police stations, and interrogation centers for long periods on what it described as fabricated charges, aimed at silencing political voices in the territory.
