Ladakh’s Sonam Wangchuk sticks to statehood, Sixth Schedule safeguards demands

Kargil: Activist Sonam Wangchuk has emphasized the need for “open-minded and sincere” negotiations to address Ladakh’s demands for statehood and Sixth Schedule safeguards.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Wangchuk, released on March 14 after six months of detention under the National Security Act, stressed that the demands are based on constitutional rights and are legitimate. He urged the government to adopt a middle path and win-win approach in the talks.

Meanwhile, health employees in Jammu and Kashmir have suspended their strike for three weeks after Health Minister Sakina Itoo assured them that their demands would be addressed. The strike had disrupted routine healthcare services in government hospitals
