UN chief urges Iran and US to seize diplomatic opportunity in Pakistan-facilitated talks
United Nations: United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has welcomed the peace talks between the United States and Iran facilitated by Pakistan, urging both parties to go into them with “good faith”.
According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking at the United Nations’ press briefing, the Secretary-General’s spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said Guterres “calls on the parties to seize this diplomatic opportunity to engage in good faith toward a lasting and comprehensive agreement, with a view to deescalation and the prevention of a return to hostilities.”
“The Secretary-General reiterates that there is no viable alternative to the peaceful settlement of international disputes, in full accordance with international law, including the UN Charter,” Dujarric said.
