4.6 magnitude earthquake jolts Doda

 

Jammu,: A 4.6 magnitude earthquake struck Doda district in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir early Sunday morning.

According to Kashmir Media Service, India’s National Centre for Seismology (NCS) reported the quake occurred at 04:32 hours, with a shallow depth of 10 km and epicentre located at latitude 33.090 N, longitude 75.928 E.

The earthquake is classified as shallow, occurring between 0 and 70 km deep, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). There are no immediate reports of damage or casualties. The region is prone to earthquakes, falling under Seismic Zones IV and V, with some areas now categorized under the maximum-risk Seismic Zone VI.
