National Conference playing with people’s mandate: Agha Rohullah

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Agha Rohullah Mehdi, a member of the Indian Parliament from Srinagar constituency, has severely criticized his own party, the National Conference, saying that in the 2024 assembly elections, it has got votes in the name of restoring Article 370 but now this party is only emphasizing the restoration of Statehood.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Agha Rohullah Mehdi, during a meeting with residents of Chanapura and Bhagat areas of Srinagar, said that Kashmiris had voted for the National Conference in the name of restoring the special status of Jammu and Kashmir in the last elections, but now they are only talking about restoring Statehood.

He said that the BJP had also promised to restore statehood, but the people rejected it, adding that what the National Conference is doing, is playing with the people’s mandate.

Agha Ruhullah said that almost two years have passed but the NC government is not talking about the restoration of special status and constitutional protections, which is regrettable.

He also slammed the administration for trying to occupy the playground used by local youth for decades and said that the playgrounds should be left for sports only. He said that a huge amount was allocated for the police in the last budget, so instead of snatching the playgrounds from our children, they can buy land elsewhere.
