Teenage boy drowned in Srinagar lake; body retrieved
Srinagar: A teenage boy died after drowning while bathing in Nigeen Lake near the Nigeen Club area of Srinagar in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir today.
According to Kashmir Media Service, officials said a rescue team launched an operation soon after receiving information about the incident.
The boy was recovered from the water and taken to Sub-District Hospital, Hazratbal, where doctors declared him dead.
The deceased was identified as Nazil Shakeel Butt, a resident of the Nowhatta area of Srinagar.
Officials said cognisance of the incident has been taken.
The incident comes a day after multiple drowning cases were reported across the Valley, in which several people lost their lives, while a Srinagar resident who drowned in the Lidder River in Pahalgam remains untraced despite ongoing search operations.
