Srinagar: Hurriyat leaders have said that the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir remain steadfast in their struggle for freedom and will continue their resistance until they achieve their internationally recognized right to self-determination.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the Hurriyat leaders, in their statements issued in Srinagar, said that killings, arbitrary arrests, torture and other repressive measures employed by the Indian authorities have failed to weaken the Kashmiris’ determination to secure freedom from Indian occupation. They said the sacrifices rendered by the people of Jammu and Kashmir over the decades are a testimony to their unwavering commitment to the liberation of their motherland.

The leaders maintained that the Kashmiri people are prepared to face every challenge, including Indian bullets and prison cells, but will never surrender before New Delhi’s occupation policies. They said the BJP-led Indian government under Narendra Modi has intensified its campaign of suppression in the occupied territory, yet it has been unable to break the spirit of the people who continue to demand justice, freedom and dignity.

They said Kashmiris have no option but to continue their peaceful struggle against what they described as India’s illegal occupation and attempts to alter the region’s demographic, political and cultural identity.

The leaders emphasized that the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir remain united in defeating India’s nefarious designs and safeguarding their distinct identity and historical rights.

The Hurriyat leaders paid tribute to the martyrs of the Kashmir freedom movement, saying their sacrifices have strengthened the resolve of the people and inspired future generations to continue the mission. They expressed confidence that the day is not far away when the people of Jammu and Kashmir will witness the dawn of freedom and justice.

They further stated that India’s continued military occupation of the territory and the presence of a massive troop deployment pose a serious challenge to the international community, which has a responsibility to ensure the implementation of relevant UN resolutions on the Kashmir dispute. They urged the United Nations and global human rights organizations to play their role in ending human rights violations and facilitating a peaceful resolution of the longstanding dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
