India losing grip on IIOJK narrative as world listens to Pakistan

Islamabad: India’s position on Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir is weakening on the global stage as its claim that Kashmir is an “internal matter” is no longer accepted widely, exposing erosion of New Delhi’s diplomatic relevance in the region.

According to Kashmir Media Service, major powers are increasingly willing to engage with Pakistan’s stance on the Kashmir dispute. The June 2, 2026 EU–Pakistan joint statement clearly mentioned Kashmir, while the May 26 China–Pakistan joint statement also included political references to the territory and joint projects in the region.

India objected to both and made hue and cry, calling them “unwarranted” and asserting that others have no “locus standi” to comment.

Analysts said these reactions reflect frustration rather than diplomatic strength as India’s objections are being increasingly ignored globally. The United States is also shifting its tone, with US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth calling ties with Pakistan a “true friendship”, signaling growing cooperation between Washington and Islamabad.

Experts noted that India’s demand to isolate Pakistan is not gaining support. In contrast, Pakistan is strengthening ties with major global powers and is engaging with the US, EU, and China simultaneously. The developments show Pakistan has successfully brought Kashmir back as an international issue.

India’s rigid stance against Pakistan is limiting its diplomatic reach, while the world is no longer echoing India’s position on IIOJK.
