Use Amarnath Yatra to counter Indian propaganda, Mehbooba tells Kashmiris

Srinagar,: Peoples Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti has urged Kashmiris to use the upcoming Amarnath Yatra as an opportunity to counter Indian propaganda and dispel misinformation and prejudice against Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Muslims through genuine human outreach.
According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing party workers and stakeholders in Pahalgam, a key base camp for the yatra, Mehbooba said the occupied territory was passing through a difficult period. The PDP chief said every Amarnath pilgrim visiting Kashmir should be treated as a guest and ambassador who carries back stories of the territory’s people, culture and traditions.
“The yatris carry the story of our land, our people and our values to every corner of India. It is our responsibility to ensure they leave with memories of our love, warmth and hospitality,” she said.
Mehbooba stressed that safeguarding the Yatra should be a collective duty of Kashmiris, not just security agencies. She said in an atmosphere of increasing polarization and mistrust, the pilgrimage offers a chance to build bridges and promote mutual understanding. She added that misinformation and prejudice against Kashmir and Muslims can best be challenged through heartfelt welcome to visitors, with yatris serving as ambassadors of Kashmir’s traditions of hospitality and coexistence.
The annual Amarnath Yatra is scheduled to commence next month amid extensive restrictions by the administration.
